VITA Volunteer Standards of Conduct

All volunteers for Teton Valley VITA are required to complete the Volunteer Standards of Conduct ethics training. Here are the steps to follow to obtain certification.

1. Read IRS PUB 4961: VITA/TCE Volunteer Standards of Conduct – Ethics Training

2. Register to take the Volunteer Standards of Conduct Certification Test.

  • Go to VITA/TCE Central: https://www.linklearncertification.com
  • Under Certification Tests, click Create Account.
  • Enter your information with the following settings:
    • Group: 01 VITA Volunteer
    • Do you plan to volunteer in the VITA/TCE program: Yes
    • Training Source: Link and Learn Taxes (e-Learning)
    • Partner/Organization Name: Teton Valley VITA
    • Don’t fill out anything after Years You Have Volunteered. This is just for those who are getting continuing education credit.

3. Take the Volunteer Standards of Conduct Exam

When you submit your account registration, you’ll automatically be taken to the 2021 VITA/TCE Certification Test menu. You don’t have to take the test now. You can just sign out and take some time to read IRS PUB 4961: VITA/TCE Volunteer Standards of Conduct – Ethics Training. The test is open-book and untimed.

  • To take the test go to https://www.linklearncertification.com and sign in at the Certification Test area. On the menu select the Basic Tab and 2021 Volunteer Standards of Conduct Exam.
  • When you finish your exam, print your certificate as a pdf and send me a copy of your Certificate in an email (kenk@tetonvalleyvita.org). I’ll send you the Volunteer Agreement to sign.
